3. Sonic's Influences Range From Michael Jackson To Santa Clause
In the early 90s, Sega really needed a character to land and make the biggest impact possible. As such, Sonic's creator Naoto Ohshima reportedly combined Felix the Cat's head with Mickey Mouse's body for his initial form. The shoes/sneakers were taken from Michael Jackson's 'Bad' video, and the red and white colour was said to tie into none-other than Santa Claus' aesthetic, thereby appealing to every major demographic at once.
