15 Most Disappointing Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
6. Dragon Age II
Whisper it, but Bioware's take on the high fantasy genre with Dragon Age: Origins might just be the best thing they've ever made. Yep, it might even top The Old Republic and Mass Effect - it's that good. Having said that, Dragon Age II might just be the worst game they've ever made too. Origins had a sprawling world with interesting locations, a great set of quests which put the player in life or death situations and a great finale to top it's engaging storyline - Dragon Age II had none of these things. The game was intended to be the beginning of a new trilogy for the Dragon Age series - like Shepard in Mass Effect, players would create their own version of Hawke and use him as their player character for the foreseeable future. Along with some exciting new developments to combat, Bioware started off on the right foot. However, inexplicably, Dragon Age II is set almost entirely within the same area. It's a twenty hour plus role-playing game set in one area, made up of about twenty different screens total. Exploration and world discovery is thrown out the window, presumably due to time constraints on the title. Fan reaction to the game focused on this loss of explorative elements, as well as the new hack n' slash style combat which took a step away from the strategic role-playing gameplay of old. As a sequel to the exceptional Origins, Dragon Age II was a massive disappointment.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
