15 Resurrected Video Game Franchises That Should Stay Dead

10. Need For Speed

The Originals: The NFS series kicked off in 1994 and has enjoyed a mind-boggling level of output ever since, releasing 20 major titles in 20 years. The series has transformed itself many times over the years, with cops vs. robbers and underground street racing both being returned to frequently, and though still financially successful, the series very much peaked in the early 2000s, where Underground sold 15 million copies worldwide. The Resurrection: Next month's Need for Speed is a straight-up franchise reboot, aiming to combine the more recent always-online mechanics with the street racing of the Underground games. Also, EA claim it will have no microtransactions or paid DLC, which is something. Why It Needs To Stay Dead: The series is so played-out at this point that there's not really anything left for it to do. Can anyone really tell the last few NFS games apart? They all blur together into one, and so it seems like another series which might better serve players by just doling out DLC updates rather than massively over-saturating the market with new games every year. Plus, haven't they run out of titles to use by now? They've already recycled Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted...
