15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

6. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Warhammer is best known in video games for its strategy outings. This is logical given its tabletop origins, but it also means that its more visceral 'in the thick of the action' games have often been overlooked. Space Marine is without doubt the best of these; a gunning, chain-swording romp through an orc-filled war-torn wasteland. You control Titus, an Ultramarine super-soldier with shoulderpads fit for the 80s, and packing enough Herculean strength to pound orc-beast-things three times his size into the ground. There's no hide-behind cover crap here, as you charge head-on into hordes of orcs - swinging a power-hammer around your head like some futuristic viking berserker. You don't get much insight into the game's characters or their motives, but that's fine when you have a planet's worth of orcs to butcher. The game avoids going stale thanks to brutal animations, a menacing weapons arsenal, and a satisfying combo-based melee system. The orc sound palette is great too; their screams, grunts, and amusing cockney utterances are a reason unto themselves to continue slaughtering them.
