15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

5. Okami HD

If - and that's a big if - you played Okami, then you'd be remiss not to compare it to the Legend of Zelda. This beautiful cel-shaded action-adventure shares many charming qualities with Nintendo's monumental series. Set in mythical Japan, Okami follows canine sun goddess Amaterasu, in her quest to banish darkness from the land. The game draws heavily on Japanese history and folklore, and has a unique aesthetic inspired by Asian ink-wash painting. The world is ripe for exploration, the combat system is simple but satisfying (God of War meets Zelda), and the story is epic - touching on themes of friendship and faith, while not shying away from venturing into darker topics. Maybe Okami was just too intertwined with Japanese culture to attract western gamers. Whatever the case, it never got the big break it deserved on the PS2, slipping by the gaming community with a whimper. Fortunately, despite its commercial failure, Okami was re-released by Capcom in gorgeous HD for the PS3 six years later, so do both it and yourself a service, log into PSN, and download it now.
