15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

1. Resistance 3

It seems that there was only room for one exclusive first-person shooter on the PS3, and that was Killzone. Sadly, this de facto rule meant that excellent games like MAG and Resistance faced unspectacular sales and - in the latter's case - diminishing returns on each successive game in the series.

By the time Resistance 3 came out, people were too busy throwing down nukes in CoD and blowing up tanks in Battlefield to take much notice. Nevertheless, it was an excellent climax to the overlooked series.

The single-player campaign is among the best of any FPS game (of course, that's not saying a huge amount), charting humanity's struggle to survive after having been invaded by the chimera. It's a touching tale of loss and desperaation that differentiates itself from the testosterone-fuelled storylines of Killzone, CoD or Battlefield. Along the way you encounter gargantuan bosses, plenty of legitimate scare moments, and some harrowing scenery depicting the ruined world. Best of all, the whole thing can be played through with a friend in co-op.

On the topic of multiplayer, Resistance 3 also had a great online mode, with plenty of match types, and arcadey gameplay filled with a mixture of alien and human weaponry, as well as some outlandish power-ups for you to unlock. Unfortunately, the online servers are have now long-since closed.
