15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

2. Comet Crash

A tower defence game becomes a whole lot more perilous when you need to attack your enemy's tower at the same time. That's the essence of this visually simple but deep strategy game. Best played with two or more people, Comet Crash is as close as the PS3 ever got to having its own Starcraft (while still being some way off, admittedly). With all the action taking place on a single screen, and no direct control over your units other than by laying down paths of gun turrets and lasers to guide them to the enemy base, Comet Crash looks basic. But start experimenting with its large array of units and defensive structures, and you'll realise that there's a lot more to this game than meets the eye. Comet Crash is all about making it as awkward as possible for the enemy's troops to reach your base, and as simple as possible for yours to reach their base. Some battles can end in five minutes, while others can turn into half-hour wars of attrition, where a moment of ingenuity or oversight can finish things off in a matter of seconds. This is not only of the best strategy games on PS3, it's also one of the console's best multiplayer games. Uniquely, it's only ever offered local multiplayer support - an interesting act of defiance against the trend towards online, yet possibly a contributing factor to why it was so overlooked.
