15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

12. Dragon's Dogma

Dark Souls this and Bloodborne that. With the dominance of From Software's dark fantasy series', you'd have thought that no other games out there were willing to throw players into hostile worlds with memorable boss battles, relentless difficulty and intelligent combat mechanics. Enter Dragon's Dogma, the dark fantasy action RPG which, despite strong sales and a warm critical reception, was always overshadowed by its dark, soulful rival. But jump into Dogma's forlorn world, and you'll find an addictive, challenging game with its own distinct style, and a unique combat system that's among the best you'll find in any RPG. After you create your character, your heart gets eaten by a dragon and you rise from the dead to retrieve it. Alongside your character, you can have up to three 'pawns' - allies from another dimension who fight alongside you - and can even summon higher-level characters created by other people to also join the fray. The combat is both methodical and spectacular. Your average battle is an intense skirmish, in which you'll need to use a well-considered combination of defence, attacks and special abilities to succeed. The boss design is fantastic, and more diverse than the faceless knights of the Souls series. During these encounters, you'll be pulling the snake-like hair off Beholders, and climbing up golems as you scramble to down your foes by any means necessary. Stunning moments like these make Dragon's Dogma one of the most overlooked action RPGs of recent memory.
