15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

13. Folklore

Whether it was undone by its eccentric smorgasbord of visual styles, or by the fact that it was released early in the PlayStation 3's cycle amidst a pile of AAA games, Folklore is a forgotten RPG worthy of revisiting. Despite its Japanese development and visual style - which jumps joyfully between graphic novel sequences, in-game graphics, and cutscenes - Folklore is set in Ireland and steeped in Celtic mythology. The story follows a young woman and journalist who are summoned to a small Irish village under mysterious circumstances, and must journey through the surreal, treacherous Netherworld to figure out what's haunting the village. The game looks incredible by merit of its art design rather than raw technical prowess. The environments are mesmerising, the enemies eclectic, and you'll want to venture deeper into this strange world to meet its denizens and explore all the stunning areas within it. With its inimitable weirdness and gorgeous visuals, Folklore feels like the kind of game that would've thrived in today's indie scene, which basks in quirkiness and experimentation.
