15 Severely Underrated Xbox 360 Games That Deserve A Second Chance
5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
The tragic narrative that led to LucasArts' demise makes its appearance here, with The Force Unleashed's frosty reception signalling the beginning of the once legendary gaming giant's demise. On a purely cinematic level The Force Unleashed is sublime. Taking on the role of Vader's apprentice whilst bridging the gap between Episodes III and IV was a brilliant narrative decision, but many critics seem to think this more than competent story was let down by mediocre gameplay. Lets not try to pretend that TFU was a marvellous gameplay spectacle (what with its nerfing of the Lightsaber and all), but the clue really is in the title's name - its focus is on the Force. Prior to Starkiller's appearance games that revolved around the galaxy far, far away had never truly shown the full potential of a Jedi's powers, and LucasArts' superb implementation of the havok and euphoria engines worked great when displaying the brutal effects that a force user could have on their enemy. Players can blast their way through The Force Unleashed's compelling story mode with a plethora of force powers - each one increasing in scale and stupendousness as the title progresses. Both light and dark side abilities lend themselves perfectly to make Starkillers' moveset feel unique and fresh even by the time the credits start rolling, and though its sequel attempted to improve upon these already great pillars it proved to be one of the worst licenced misfires in recent memory. Would it be too much to ask for someone else to pick up where LucasArts left off?
