15 Terrible Mistakes That Almost Ruined Grand Theft Auto

2. GTA Online Was A Huge Disappointment (GTA V)

A year later, how many people who dipped their toes in GTA Online are still playing it? The answer: not many. After the server woes of the mode's launch in its first week, players finally signed into the game hoping that Rockstar's much shouted about online offering would live up to its insane promise, and found themselves tremendously disappointed at the shocking lack of content. In addition to most of the missions being overly similar and boring, hackers made minced meat out of the game's mechanics, the party system sucked, the game essentially punished players for shooting others, and making any significant progress was a dull grind. That's without even mentioning the lack of heists... In fairness, GTA V would have easily been worth the money even if there was no GTA Online to speak of, but when Rockstar hyped it up so heavily and failed to deliver, it somewhat knocked consumer confidence in the developer. After measuring up almost every time they went up to bat, for the online mode to fall so flat and still not function properly a year later was extremely disappointing, and a reminder that even the mightiest talents are capable of abject failure.
