15 Things Only Call Of Duty Fans Will Understand
5. Going For The Melee Kill When You Should Have Just Shot
We are all our own worst enemy. While we might complain about hitboxes or campers or weapons not firing properly, more often than not we can only blame ourselves when things inevitably go !*$% up.
That's partly because hubris is the biggest killer in Call of Duty, as players are always hunting for the stylish kills to grief opponents with, rather than playing it safe and smart. This might manifest in the desperate attempt to score a throwing knife shot, but it might be as small as overestimating how viable a melee kill is.
We've all been there, behind a player who has no idea you're sneaking up on them, but too far away to tap the melee button and get the kill, so you chase them, trying to close the distance. You could just shoot them, obviously, but where's the fun in that?
Well, banking the kill with a few rounds is much more fun than chasing the opponent around a corner for far longer than you anticipated, only to get shot in the back yourself.
