15 Upcoming Video Games To Make A Wii U Worth Buying

14. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad is a spin-off from the mini-game of the same name in the Wii U's Super Mario 3D World, a puzzle platformer in which Toad (or Toadette) must navigate a series of levels to collect gold stars. Yes, it's frustrating that Toad can't jump, but hey, after spending years loving the cute peripheral character, it's just nice to see the character get his own game, especially one that looks as fun as this. Because Toad can't jump and isn't particularly powerful against enemies, the game requires players to plan their approach a little differently to other Nintendo platformers: it's all about avoiding conflict where possible and allowing Toad to fall into the right place at the right time. The Wii U gamepad also provides some assistance: in the mine cart level shown off (which many journalists have promised will become a fan favourite), the gamepad provides a first-person perspective of all the action. It may not be quite as anticipated as some of the console's upcoming big-hitters, but still, this has the potential to be a creative treat for those looking for something that's uniquely challenging. Release Date: December 5th
