15 Upcoming Video Games You'll Play Even If The Reviews Are Terrible
8. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Release Date: TBA 2015 (expected Q3). The Buzz: The fifth core entry into Hideo Kojima's superb action franchise once again goes back in time, meeting up wth Big Boss in 1984 as he seeks to get revenge for the destruction of his army. In addition to an exciting new open-world approach, Metal Gear Online will also be back. Why It Could Suck: It's possible that the open-world gameplay style just won't be particularly well-suited to the cinematic-heavy approach fans are used to, or that some of the plot developments might rub people up the wrong way. Still, as anyone who's played Ground Zeroes knows, gameplay complaints are incredibly unlikely. Why You'll Play It Anyway: Because every time you say you're done with the MGS franchise, Kojima makes a new game that pulls you back in, and even if the critics hate it, it's a series you've probably been playing for close to two decades. Even if the critics loathe it, you need to see the plot developments for yourself and see Big Boss' turn to the dark side once and for all.
