15 Video Games That Every True Gamer Should Have Completed
11. Streets Of Rage 2
Online gameplay? Pah, I say! Grab a controller or two in the darkened reclines of a bedroom, grab a friend using a large hook implement, drag them inside and make them play this masterpiece of cooperative gameplay with you. Released way back in the day on the Megadrive, Streets of Rage 2 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you play as one of four characters trying to stop a crime syndicate from doing things that I never quite understood and probably aren't that important really. At its core, the SOR series has always been repetitive. But so were most other games back then; we're really spoiled for choice with modern games that bring out all the bells and whistles. It's a game where you literally move from enemy to enemy handing them their backsides with a severe whooping, but that doesn't make it any less fun! Even to this day, Streets of Rage 2 remains a great game to play with friends. The co-op game of this is something I could play forever and many friends I've bonded with have been as a result of finding it hilarious to get in each other's way and end up hitting each by accident on Streets of Rage 2. Although the series is pretty much dead in the water now and probably wouldn't fit in to modern gaming life, a team of dedicated fans recently made an entirely new SOR game called Streets of Rage Remake. After they'd worked on it for years and released it to the public, SEGA then swooped in and promptly said cease and desist in large block capitals.
