3. Ratonhnhaké:ton - Assassin's Creed III
If you can pronounce that, I award you with one cookie. Well done. Better known by his adopted name of Connor, old Ratonhnhaké:ton was the protagonist of AC III, aka the one in the series that was a bit rubbish. To be fair to him he had some big boots and hood to fill when Ezio Auditore de Firenze bowed out in Assassin's Creed Revelations, but his character was just so, so bad that he had no hope in hell of ever being another Ezio. I mostly blame the voice acting for not caring about Connor. He sounded at all times like a completely disinterested bystander who was simply along for the ride. Emotion wasn't part of Connor's repertoire, and I honestly think dressing a part of the wall in Assassin's robes would have made a much more gripping protagonist. It's a shame really because the setting of ACIII actually had potential to be great. When you're playing as someone you don't like though, you're simply not going to enjoy it. Connor's plight was not helped in the slightest for not letting us actually play as him at the start of the game. Instead we were Haytham Kenway, a witty, interesting character with an interesting tale to tell. Seriously, read the accompanying book for AC III - it tells the story of Haytham and it's much more interesting than Connor's ever was. The reception to Connor is clear from his removal from the series after one game. Instead he was replaced by swash-buckling pirate/assassin Edward Kenway, grandfather of Haytham. Requiescat in Pace Connor, you shan't be missed.
