4. Geoff Shreeves (FIFA 14)
In an effort to add even more realism to the Fifa series, EA have in recent years featured Sky's own touchline reporter Geoff Shreeves to the commentary team. While I'm not opposed to the addition of more members of the TV team, I'm not sure Geoff's minimal input to the game warranted inclusion. Being a touchline reporter, Geoff might often have numerous things to report on during real games but during a FIFA game, there's not much he can really add to proceedings. This means that to justify his wages, we're forced to hear from him every single time a player takes a slight knock. It's interesting enough the first time you hear it but trust me, playing through a career or an online marathon becomes mind numbing when you hear the same conversation over and over.
"Maybe we could get some news on the injury from Geoff Shreeves, Geoff?" "He's a tough cookie, he's staying on." "CHEERS GEOFF!"
And that's about the height of it. It doesn't sound bad but listen to it twice in every game and come back to me. It's particularly present in Pro Clubs when the early incarnation of your pro gets hurt by even a light breeze and tires easily before the end of games. On top of all this, the rest of the commentary isn't great either and could do with a complete shake up. Maybe it's time Gary Neville made his Fifa commentary debut. But please, for the love of God, not Michael Owen.
