15 Worst Video Game Levels Of The 2000s

4. "Get On That Turret!" (Every Turret Sequence)

Although they still pop up every now and then (to hell with Mass Effect 3's awful battle on Palaven, for one), the heyday of turret sequences came across the back-end of the 2000s. Sure we'd seen light gun shooters and other stationary blasters over the years, but it felt as though the success of Call of Duty's explosion-happy set-pieces encouraged every developer to crowbar one of their own in. Dead Space's meteor section was one of the absolute worst - sticking out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of that game's slow, explorative horror beats. These levels always feel forced, and honestly, does anyone out there really like them? You're bolted to a place, forced to just spray n'pray whilst holding down one button, forever taking damage because there's nowhere to go and nothing to prevent it. Terrible.
