Oh god, what happened to you Sonic? How did it all go so wrong for such a simple character? Team Sonic themselves seem to have no idea either, essentially doing a Nintendo when it comes to throwing out new ideas, and then refusing to acknowledge what's worked and what needs fixing. From werewolf spin-offs to falling in love with princesses and ending up on the receiving end of life-restoring kisses, it's still nothing compared to the cringe-fest that is Sonic Boom. From the horrifically stilted dialogue that sees Sonic and gang remarking on what's around them in the most plaintive way possible - "Hey a boost pad!" - to the character designs themselves that make no sense - why has Tails got pilot's goggles on and Knuckles is a big dumb 'heavy'? - nothing here feels like it came from the same mould as what once birthed an icon for an entire generation.
