Remember earlier when WWE's DLC packs were described as must-buy? Perhaps no DLC pack got this point over as strongly as WWE 2K17's legends DLC, as it featured Brutus Beefcake, Eddie Guerrero, Greg Valentine, Sycho Sid, and Tatanka, the majority of which had been absent from WWE video games for over a decade, bar Eddie; the WWE Hall of Famer hadn't appeared in a WWE video game since 2013's WWE 2K14, which was significantly more recent than his DLC counterparts.

Including the likes of Brutus Beefcake, Greg Valentine, and Tatanka made enough sense to justify their inclusion as Beefcake was on good terms to be inducted into the 2019 Hall of Fame class, Valentine had no known issues with the company, and Tatanka had returned to the ring that year in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

But Sycho Sid? He couldn't have been further off WWE's radar.

He was technically featured in WWE 2K15's Path of the Warrior DLC, refereeing the SummerSlam 1991 headliner as Sid Justice, but he wasn't playable quite yet. Players had to wait another two years for Sid's first WWE games appearance since the SNES version of Super WrestleMania - which released in 1992!
