16 Essential Open-World Video Games Coming In 2017 & 2018

12. Anthem

Anthem Javelin In Flight
Bioware

Bioware's next big project was one of the most talked-about of E3 2017. Looking to have a huge focus on group raids and RPG character-building, this is the next project headed up by Casey Hudson, who you might remember for helping shape the Mass Effect trilogy. Yes, that guy.

Codenamed 'Dylan', both Hudson and his team have been working on Anthem for years (it's the game he moved onto creating after Mass Effect 3 back in 2012), hopefully meaning it should've learned all sorts of lessons from both Mass Effect Andromeda and Dragon Age: Inquisition. From what we've seen, Anthem is all about augmented exo-suits, a Horizon Zero Dawn-looking world you can fly through and a fairly mysterious plot detailing how everything went sideways in the first place.

We know Bioware can be phenomenal - they certainly used to be one of the industry's most acclaimed developers - and from what's out there, Anthem looks interesting by concept alone.

Please, just make it work.
