16 Insanely Underrated PS4 Exclusives You Must Play

7. Alienation

Alienation game
Housemarque

Hopefully you've played top-down shooters before, as Alienation is developer Housemarque's latest claim that reinforces their stature as kings of the genre.

Playing like a controllable fireworks display of plasma rifles, gooey exploding enemies, co-operative special attacks and literal waves of enemies to chew through, there's a joy to just firing a gun in Alienation that'll carry you from start to finish. Layered on top the basics are classes dictating healing abilities and damage-boosts, a multiplayer mode and a scene-by-scene story that's set up very much like Housemarque's zombie-filled Dead Nation.

I could go on about how much fun the base mechanics are, but you literally need to just grab a few mates, crowd around a TV and get to blasting everything in sight. The frame rate never drops, the weapons kick like demonic mules, and popping enemy heads like grapes is something all gamers were born to do.

Get stuck in.
