9. Voltorb/Electrode - Gen I
Generation I is sacred ground to many people but like I mentioned with the entry of Ditto, it doesn't make it completely safe from this list. Yes, Voltorb and Electrode are awesome Pokémon. They are great in battle and despite my cynicism of their design, they were unique and fun in the first generation. But ultimately Voltorb is a very lazy creation. And only flipping the colors to create Electrode seems even worse. To be honest Electrode is probably a worst offender than its pre-evolved form given that there was no attempt to change the Pokémon other than turning it over. While not as offensive as say a Pokémon based on keys, when you do compare Voltorb and Electrode to the rest of the 151 Pokémon from Generation I it tends to come out the silliest. For all those who adore Gen I as unquestionably flawless, the plus side is that not many from that generation are on this listbut Voltorb and Electrode were going to make it at the very least.
