8. Link Was Inspired By Peter Pan

There's a ton of characters and general tropes that can be traced back to Disney, and so it's understandable even Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto was enamoured by The House of Mouse. In an interview with French gaming site Gamekult, Miyamoto revealed that Link's character design was specifically inspired by Peter Pan's, down to the very idea of "a long hat and long ears" being a recognising factor. Fans have since speculated that this could also be why the Kokiri remain ageless throughout the franchise.
