16 Most Important Video Games Coming In 2016

11. Doom

Military shooters are a dime a dozen these days, and when the only alternative is Destiny listlessly pawing at your wallet or Halo 5 lying about its own story to keep you interested, it's time to revert back to a simpler time. A time of gore being the selling factor, of arena shooters, of "HEADSHOT" soundbites ringing out across your speakers, of Unreal Tournament and in particular Doom being the reigning kings of the genre. We've certainly got Wolfenstein and Doom to thank for shaping the very idea of a first-person shooter at all, but following Doom 3's weirdly hampered controls that made juggling a flashlight and firearm far harder than anything coming your way, it's about time iD Software released something that was just straight-up fun. Shotgun blasts that sound like Satan himself plucking an open bass string, finishing animations that make Mortal Kombat's roster reach for the sick bucket, a totally unimportant story that points you at demons and poises your finger on the trigger... Doom is coming back, baby, and it's going to be so ludicrously fun I can't even add enough words into this one sentence to do it justice.
