Sometimes, people think they want something, and they really, really don't - like a Batman V Superman movie, KFC's Double Down, and Final Fantasy VII's full remake. Square vowed they'd never do it, firstly because of the financial side of things, which Sony prompted plugged up by throwing cash into every orifice until they caved, and second, because to paraphrase their own words; remaking this highly-lauded release from their past wouldn't exactly inspire much confidence about their future. But, here we are. Sony inked the deal with them two weeks prior to E3, 2015, director Tetsuya Nomura hilariously remarked that he didn't even know he was involved in the project until he saw the trailer along with the rest of us, and now that it's being released episodically, it's proven there's no way to get prime FF VII content into your hands other than slicing it up to different annual chunks. Whatever state FF VII's remake does launch in, it'll be more scrutinised than Jared Leto's Joker; there's just no winning over that many people, and the sad part, is that the detractors may have been right all along.
