16 Severely Underrated Video Games That Deserve A Second Chance

1. Alpha Protocol

A supremely awesome concept fumbled just enough in the execution to put off far more people than it endeared itself to, AP's 'design your own super-spy' RPG is an idea for the ages, and something that if you're a 90's gamer used to polygons glitching out or occasional frame rate hiccups is more than acceptable. Playing as one Michael Thornton you'll travel the globe between a variety of secret bases, plotting missions both main and ancillary to obtain items, plans and data on a variety of characters - one of which is voiced by Uncharted's Nolan North in a brilliantly sadistic performance. However it's in the customisation of your agent that'll really open up your gameplay possibilities considerably. Want to go in with your trusty shotgun and blow everyone away 90's action-hero style? How about putting points into melee combat, breaking some bones and occasionally chaining some stealth kills together like Jason Bourne or new-age Bond? It's all up for grabs in a brilliantly exaggerated spy-thriller framework that actually harbours a surprising amount of charm to fill in some cracks that would otherwise rupture the whole thing.
