17 Last-Gen Video Games That Will Be Viewed As Classics In Years To Come
8. Mass Effect 2
Although it may have annoyed a few people with its departure in terms of combat/exploration from the first game, the narrative storytelling, tight shooting mechanics and meaningful character development all helped to make ME2 the best game in the series. Perhaps the biggest memories of ME2 we have lie at both ends of the game's story; the first being when Commander Shepard's is killed abruptly at the start of the game before being brought back to life, and the second being the aptly-named 'Suicide Mission' on the Collector Base at the game's climax. The latter of these events stands out at the most; if you haven't prepared enough for your foray into hostile alien territory and/or make the wrong decisions while you're there, every single member of your team's lives is legitimately in danger. Even your own Commander Shepard can die! Better yet, if any of your team dies they won't appear in the sequel, building a truly connected game world. Unfortunately Mass Effect 3 couldn't quite replicate the same feeling of awesomeness as the second game. It was still extremely good, but many gamers tend to dismiss it altogether due to the hugely controversial ending. We can't wait to see how Bioware atones for these mistakes when Mass Effect 4 - or whatever else it's going to be called - comes out in the future.
