17 Last-Gen Video Games That Will Be Viewed As Classics In Years To Come
15. Portal 2
The first one was a triumph, but the sequel? Huge success. It may have had a bit less cake than it's predecessor, but Portal 2 made up for that by having a manic, maniacal little robot voiced by Stephen Merchant and everyone's favourite sadistic AI, GLaDOS, being grafted into a potato. It also expanded greatly on the innovative mechanics introduced in the first game, creating a challenging, rewarding and immersive gaming world. . Witty in all the right ways and encouraging gamers to actually use their brain rather than be given all the answers, Portal 2 - like other games made by Valve - pushes the envelope of what games can be. It sells itself not on flashy cinematics and set-pieces, but instead plonks the gamer down in a world where everything unfolds before your very eyes. One minute you're making portals, and the next you're making portals while bouncing on bouncy gel and catching cubes in mid air while GLaDOS the potato sarcastically mocks you. It's unknown right now whether Valve will ever release a sequel to Portal 2 (as we all know they have a general aversion to releasing games with '3' in the title - cough - Half Life), but we're always up for more fun with portals.
