17 Last-Gen Video Games That Will Be Viewed As Classics In Years To Come
14. Borderlands
Take the best parts of a first person shooter, combine it with your favourite dungeon looter, and you've got Borderlands. Gearbox Software really struck gold when they decided to develop this one. Borderlands sells itself almost entirely on its 'millions of guns' tagline - you can find countless variations on weaponry in the game, constantly switching out your arsenal for bigger and badder guns. It gets addictive, fast, and is the reason why this title has been followed a sequel, loads of DLC, a prequel and now an episodic game series called Tales from the Borderlands. As well as loads of guns, Borderlands also has four playable classes with their own unique skills and skill trees and takes place in a world that's so screwed up its utterly hilarious. Who can forget meeting CL4P-TP, good-old Claptrap, for the first time? He may be annoying, but he's also weirdly lovable. The sequel to the first game only continued the fun of the first, with even more guns, a better villain and - thankfully - a better ending. The first remains the classic here though, it brought us smack bang into the world of Borderlands and - in what's becoming somewhat of a rarity for franchises starters - delivered on all fronts. Borderlands 3 for PS4 and Xbox One? Maybe that'll be the game that dethrones this one.
