17 Secret Video Game Bosses You Need To Beat Before You Die

3. Killer Instinct - Shadow Jago

How you get there: You know the drill by now. Being a beat 'em up, Killer Instinct's process of revealing the secret boss is pretty similar to previous examples you've already seen on this list. In order to take on Shadow Jago in combat, you need to not lose a single fight, get two supreme victories, one ultra, and then another on your rival opponent.

On top of that already-expansive list of requirements, the character you chose to undertake the mission with needs to have all three of their endings unlocked. Doing all of that will make the game skip the original final boss - Fulgore - and go straight to Shadow Jago instead.

Why you need to beat them: Shadow Jago isn't just a reskin of his non-possessed self - he has a vastly different repertoire of attacks in comparison, probably due to the fact that his mind is being scrambled by the evil spirit, Omen. The secret boss fight represents the greatest challenge of the game as far as AI opponents go, and he certainly isn't designed to be balanced by any stretch of the imagination.

He's also the only character that has an 'Ultimate Combo' - a move akin to the Mortal Kombat series' Fatalities. If you succeed against Shadow Jago, you're treated to a new, alternate ending for your chosen character.
