The closing moments of Arkham City saw Batman struggling with the decision of whether or not to cure Joker of the poison flowing through his veins. And despite the fact that it would only benefit Gotham if the Joker choked on his own blood and sailed off to the fiery rivers of hell to burn for all eternity, we knew by now that Batman would never let him bite the big one if he could help it.
We've seen the Dark Knight wrestle with this decision time and time again, so of course we watched skeptically as Batman went through the motions of wriggling between a rock and a hard place. It's a song we've all heard a million times before, and the words have never changed.
Or so we thought - as the vial shattered against the stone floor, the chances of Joker's survival dissipated through the cracks. As the Joker desperately tries to lap up the cure with his tongue, Batman remarks that he still would have saved him despite the misery he's caused.
