17. The Lizard - Heavy Rain
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U42b0HAQDy8 You could essentially put any moral choice from Heavy Rain in a list of the most memorable parts of the last few years (actually,
someone already has), but as the game started with some pretty controversial subject matter (a father losing his child), from then on out it was always going to be venturing into uncharted territory. The basic premise goes that as father Ethan Mars, you're basically plunged into a series of Saw-like 'tests' to prove your love for your one remaining son; a maniacal string-puller nestling somewhere on the other end of the screen. However, rather than rely overtly on gore to amp up the tension, you're left with some more psychologically scarring scenarios - such as choosing which implement in a room you should use to sever a finger in front of the villain's camera. Everything from a knife to a pair of scissors is up for grabs, or you can simply refuse and leave, damning your child to whatever evil whims may occur. As the game had a number of different endings all dependant on which main characters survived and which choices you made, this easily became one of the most frantic and replayable scenarios in any game.
