18 Best Video Game Levels Of The Decade (So Far)

14. A Dame, A Dork, And A Drunk - Max Payne 3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_fa_AdXjA4 When Rockstar took the reigns for Remedy's iconic Max Payne franchise, it was the first time surely anyone questioned if they'd be able to live up to such a high bar set from the two previous shooters - especially when the first pictures showed a bald Max in a Hawaiian shirt, looking more like Walter White had been at the mai tais than a hard-boiled New York cop. In the end Rockstar brought their A-game, again utilising their phenomenal physics engine to realistically account for every bullet's individual trajectory, the weight of each body and all the impact they had on the surrounding world - Max's movements feeling especially momentous when you leapt into a trademark life-or-death dive. Put simply, Max Payne 3 has within it the best firefights in any game so far. And when it came time to defend your boss's office from a swarm of specialists, seeing computer screens get blown apart as stacks of paper were torn to shreds - the whole thing playing out in über slow-mo as you lined up headshots amongst the carnage - it was bliss.
