For all the so-called 'walking simulators' tend to get a bad rap, within most of them are some truly incredible stories, and although Firewatch's ending and overall message is one you probably won't fully get until a repeat playthrough, it's still one of the medium's finest.

Casting you as Henry, a man essentially fleeing from a harrowing event in his past, you set up shop in a watchtower, looking for potential threats amidst the dense Wyoming wilderness. Suddenly you're greeted by a voice on the intercom, and from there it's an exploration of how we can make connections in even the most sparse of environments, what we do to get away from life's hardships, and ultimately how we come to terms with moving forward through them.

That summary might put gamers off who want their titles to be more immediate, less literary experiences, and that's totally fine, but considering the spectrum of games available on the newest hardware, you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot.
