11. Halo 5: Guardians
Another franchise that's verging on annoying its fans with just that little bit too much forced iteration and another unnecessary sequel is Halo 5, this time attempting to bring in another main character in one Spartan Locke, whilst alluding to a story that could go either way with either Locke or the Master Chief being the villain of the piece by the end. Luckily for 343 Industries their work on Halo 4 came out much better than expected, as plenty fans of the original trilogy had already extended their allowance to Bungie's last hurrah with Reach, only for a very solid story and production values to tie everything together and make the last instalment incredibly rewarding. For Guardians though, the reveal trailer wasn't met with as much admiration as more of a groan that 'yet another' Bungie-less Halo was coming, and with the addition of aiming down the scope being a core gameplay feature alongside an increasingly perk-based multiplayer verging on taking too much from Call of Duty than it should, more of 5's single player could quell fears that this is going anywhere near cash-in territory.
