18 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Uncharted Series
4. Charlie Cutter Was Cut From Half Of Uncharted 3
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception introduced a new character into Nate’s merry band of thieves, the tough smart-mouthed Charlie Cutter. At first he appears to be one of the villainous Marlow’s lackeys, but then he is revealed to be an ally in disguise, and he joins Nate in his quest to find Iram of the Pillars.
However, about halfway through the game Cutter is injured to the point where he can no longer follow, and he is abruptly dropped from the narrative. It’s very jarring and disappointing for anyone who took a liking to the character. This originally wasn’t to be the case however; in fact, Cutter was supposed to appear throughout the entire game, but outside influences forced him to be written out.
Graham McTavish, the actor who played Cutter, happened to land a role in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit films as the dwarf Dwalin. Because the production forced him to move to New Zealand for principle photography, he could no longer mo-cap for Uncharted 3.
Instead of recasting him, Cutter was written out of the story with a conveniently-timed broken leg.
