It’s no coincidence that almost all of the sound effects in this list are heard in bonafide classic video games, but The Legend of Zelda might just be the most classic of all of them. This NES adventure is a landmark release for many people of a certain generation, opening their eyes to what video games could be.

Speaking of opening eyes, you’d need to be eagle eyed and clued up to find the many secrets hidden in Nintendo’s epic RPG. This is a jingle that instantly takes you back to the age you were when playing on the NES, which is remarkable considering the game released in 1987 (obviously if you played the game more recently on an emulator or on the Virtual Console that trip back down memory lane won’t be nearly as long).

Remastered and tinkered with over the years, this classic sound has been heard in every Zelda game since.
