18 New Video Games Coming In 2015 You Need To Know About
2. No Man's Sky
Easily the most technically impressive title there's been announced in years - and also something that made our overall list of titles to look forward to - Hello Games' No Man's Sky is something that if they can pull it off, will impact the core foundation of how levels are even made in games. How so? Well, because everything to do with the environment in No Man's is procedurally generated, with the designers putting together a series of world-building 'seeds' that when mashed up can spit out an entire galaxy of possibilities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmwG6Sj1Yfg So far randomly-generated worlds are things you tend to see in 2D titles such as Rogue Legacy or isometric-top down Invisible Inc., y'know, nothing too crazy in terms of three dimensions, but NMS looks set to change all of that, designing very Bungie/Halo/Destiny-looking worlds with enough of a colour palette flourish to set the whole thing apart. With a few hundreds planets to visit without any load times, combat between yourself and any of the new species' that may emerge on the surface and whatever happens when you run into other players 'living' in your own server-based galaxy changing constantly, there's a huge amount of potential that can hopefully be capitalised on.
