16. Let It Die
Lollipop Chainsaw is easily one of the barmiest games you'll ever lay eyes on, as developer Grasshopper Manufacture appeared to take a concept many other devs would laugh out the board room, and instead made it into an uber-gore-filled explosion of combo-based kills and self-referential dialogue. Let It Die is more of the same complete insanity, but with something completely different than that of pink pom-pom-flying cheerleaders equipped with chainsaws and talking severed heads. Instead it looks to be more of a mix of Dark Souls' aesthetic and every-man-for-himself approach to level design, twinned with off-kilter slaughter-fest Madworld's love of gore and environmental interaction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjJFiWKjpis Where the morally hollow Hatred got on everyone's radar last year thanks to being a game where you recklessly slaughter everyone from women and children to the police and who knows what else, Let It Die is proof you can do an ultra-violent title that knows just how stupid it all is on face value.
