14. Experiencing The Madness Of P.T.

It might sound like a strange bowel movement, but to a special sect of gamers (read: all of us, until in the years to come when it's regarded with a more mythical hue), the Silent Hill-reboot-that-never-was, P.T. was all people could talk about in 2014.

Assembled from the twin-genius minds of Hollywood A-lister Guillermo del Toro and Metal Gear Solid's Hideo Kojima (one hell of a partnership), P.T. played out in first-person, seeing you explore a small L-shaped corridor over and over - except with various details changing each time.

Thing is, it was only mentioned at Gamescom as an aside, like "Oh we've got this cool demo called P.T., you guys should play it" kinda thing. The studio listed was fictional, and it was only if you completed certain actions that you'd trigger a trailer - featuring Norman Reedus - for the actual reboot of Silent Hills itself. This way of marketing went down a treat, as suddenly we had something everybody had access to, yet was forever shrouded in mystery.

Since then, Konami and Kojima have parted ways and P.T. was pulled from the PlayStation Store. It still exists on consoles that completed the original download, but is impossible to purchase or obtain outside of that.
