1. Microsoft Finally Overcome All The Negative Press Since 2013

There was a palpable feeling of positivity across all of Microsoft's announcements this year. Yes, Sony had some big shockers with God of War and a playable VR Star Wars trench run (!), but Microsoft had something better: A solid plan for the future.

Announcing not one but two new models for the Xbox brand and getting the developers themselves to back it was a masterstroke. It helped establish the uber-powerful Project Scorpio as a luxury item, but one that will support a solid set of games for the next decade, meanwhile the revamped Xbox S now comes with more storage, 4K upscaling and a drastically reduced form factor.

The message was clear: "We've listened", and with a bevy of exclusives spearheaded by the mighty Gears of War 4, all that love for the 360 just came flooding back.
