At its core, Astro Bot is everything you'd expect from a platformer. It stars a cutesy little robot mascot who is tasked with rescuing his friends from different worlds, after they're scattered across the galaxy by an evil alien. You'll run, jump and punch your way through colourful, vibrant levels full of little secrets to find, collecting little coins along the way to buy collectables. So far, so standard platformer.

Then, there's the VR. There's no way of describing just how much of a game changer this game being in virtual reality really is. As soon as you put on the headset and see how it works for yourself, something just clicks.

Rather than controlling Astro through the world, you're right there with him. You're a robot who's falling along behind Astro, and seeing him run around you, waving joyfully as he navigates the environment, is an absolute thrill.

The developers of the game use VR in extremely clever ways throughout. Levels are designed to have you looking around constantly to find things, and there's clever uses of the DualShock 4 controller throughout to throw shurkiens, blow out water, use a grappling hook and more.

If you've got a PlayStation VR, you absolutely owe it to yourself to play this game.
