What if you took the Souls series, dipped it in even darker, gothic environments, and made it faster-paced? Well, you'd get Bloodborne, probably the best game that From Software has ever created.

There's so much to love about Bloodborne. For From purists, it's tough as nails, but it's a game that really oozes with its own style. It's a foreboding world, filled with horrible monstrosities and you - armed with your trusty trick weapon of choice - must put down these creatures and end the nightmare that plagues the city of Yharnham.

Trick weapons are the big game changer here. These weapons swap between different forms at a button press, and thanks to an increase in pace and more of a focus on dodging rather than blocking as you'd normally do in the Souls games, everything about the game plays silky smooth too.

It's almost criminal at this point that we've never received a true sequel to Bloodborne. Recent rumours, however, do point to a potential remastered version coming to the PS5. As this one never got a PS4 Pro patch, the potential of playing Bloodborne again in 60FPS is certainly very exciting.
