20 Best Current Gen Games So Far

12. Batman: Arkham City

batman_arkham_city-600x300 While the Dark Knight trilogy was busy reviving the struggling superhero movie market, Batman was also taking the game industry by storm. It felt like ages since we€™d had a great superhero video game but Rocksteady created a game worthy of the Caped Crusader. Most of the major criminals turn up in Arkham €“ even if only for a brief cameo €“ but the central plot is centered on The Joker and Dr Strange. Hugo Strange has control of the cordoned off sector of the city and Batman€™s mission is to investigate what€™s happening behind the walls. The simple combat system returns and it is easy to dominate a group of foes in a few seconds. Rocksteady have done wonders with making the player truly feel like Batman. The ability to drop a smoke pellet into a crowded room, swoop down and destroy the enemies one by one before climbing back on to a gargoyle overlooking the room feels awesome. As they realise they are being picked off the fear and chaos slowly starts to affect their focus. As the story progresses €“ and as you complete various side quests €“ you€™ll encounter many more villains and allies from the Batman universe. Playing as Catwoman as you slowly sneak your way around enemies also provides a different feeling from the sections as Batman. The hundreds of Riddler trophies also test you to explore every inch of Arkham. Finally playing a great Batman game and being able to feel like the Dark Knight himself, means this game deserves its place on the list.
