7. Resident Evil

It was scary, difficult and encouraged the player to use everything they were given wisely. While later games in the series started to shed Resident Evil's much loved survival horror elements, the original remains a fondly-remembered classic. Luckily for Gamecube owners, Capcom decided to remake the highly-revered original for everyone's favourite purple-looking lunchbox. The game was a visual tour de force, featuring some of the most highly rendered backgrounds gaming had ever seen. The visuals still look great to this day, and the game's sense of tension and puzzle-solving remains just as enjoyable and compelling now as it was all those years ago. At the time the game was one of the most immersive console experiences around, and the reason many people owned a Gamecube in the first place. Truly a timeless classic, and another brilliant remake to add to The Gamecube's varied library. You need this game in your collection.
