Your mileage on Dying Light varied entirely depending on your affinity for zombie fiction, or the genre overall after so many games have done it to death and back again. Forget the narrative for a second though, its the first-person parkour/free-running gameplay that makes this shine far brighter than the rest. You might have thought the only game to do first-person platforming right was Mirror's Edge, but that's before you've experienced Dying Light's seamless transitions from wall to rooftop, or its plentiful power-ups seeing you drop-kick zombies to clear paths in abundance. It takes on another realm of fun entirely when you partner up with a friend, and considering Techland's proficiency with sadistically satisfying first-person combat, helps elevate DL over even the Dead Island games.
