So, what makes a truly great open world game? The title that could only be done this way, and one that makes the best use of everything the genre has come to represent in the process. From gorgeously-rendered cities with cultures all their own and interwoven race-relations that walk all surfaces of the land, to missions that span the entire breadth of the world in question and a player agency built from the ground-up to only make the world turn with you as its axis, there's still nothing quite like Skyrim. With E3 being just round the corner and Bethesda themselves kicking the whole thing off on June 14th, it's possible that a new Elder Scrolls will finally get an official confirmation - but until then if this one's gargantuan length and overall life-sucking reputation put you off, it's about time you remedy that as soon as possible.
