20 Best PlayStation Games Of The 2000s

The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling video game console of all time, flourishing between 2000-2009 as all manner of varied gaming franchises were continued, revitalised or brought to life. From fan favorites such as Uncharted to God of War, Metal Gear Solid to the downfall of Crash Bandicoot, this decade saw a huge surge in creative development, perhaps unparalleled by any other decade.

Many of these games spawned long lasting franchises that introduced innovations to gameplay and graphics and whose influence is seen in today’s modern consoles.

What makes a video game influential? What makes a game the best it could possibly be? For starters, it needs to go beyond the standards set in whatever period it was released, truly exceeding the competition in every respect.

Even then, a game’s influence and popularity is subject to each person’s perceptions - though consensus tends to establish something as a true great eventually. As such, hopefully I'll avoid annoying the most loyal of video game enthusiasts as I run down the 20 best Playstation games of the 2000s.
