20 Best PlayStation Games Of The 2000s
20. Twisted Metal: Black (2001)
Twisted Metal Black brought back everything that fans of the original loved, adding a heavy dose of horror alongside. Gone were the days of the light-colored palettes and comedic features in favor for some seriously messed up themes and images.
For example, there’s a character called Axel that decided to strap his own body to two huge wheels as punishment for his wife’s death. He eases his guilt by feeling excruciating pain as his bare feet are shredded along the road. As you do.
Each character has their own story and its told from their point of view. They’re each visited by Calypso (the story’s antagonist) who cons them into joining the vehicle battle royale.
The core gameplay is the same: think Mario Kart's Battle Mode but instead of using shells to defeat the other players you’re using ballistic missiles, flamethrowers and bullets, sending them all to hell for that matter. It was dark, horrific and most of all, fun.
